Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!
Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).
I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.
Also, I want to mention that this week’s card was not the first card I pulled. I pulled two cards that I have already pulled and written about before pulling the third card. I’m writing about the third card I pulled today, but if you wish to read about the first two cards, I pulled the Knight of Cups and the Lovers card.
The Emperor Card
This week I pulled the Emperor card. This card belongs to the Major Arcana, and it is believed that Major cards hold deeper and more specific meanings. This is the card of power and accomplishment. This card is often depicted as a masculine figure with a long white beard sitting on a silver or stone throne with rams carved into it. He wears a golden crown, red robes, and armored boots. He holds an orb in one hand and a scepter in the other.
Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Emperor can symbolize a father figure or an authoritative masculine figure whom you need to seek guidance or leadership from. It can also symbolize our ability to achieve our goals by asserting ourselves. If you have ever felt overlooked or not appreciated, this card wants you to stand up for yourself. The Emperor wants you to use your voice and demand the credit and accolades that you deserve. No one is allowed to bully you into submission. Not even yourself.
What This Card Means For fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Emperor card speaks to their need for a sense of accomplishment.
Aries, your sign is particularly connected to this card, so it may hold more significance for you. You have worked too hard to let the unhelpful criticism of others hinder your progress. Be proud of yourself.
Leo, you are surrounded by people who want to sing your praises. You do not have to be humble all of the time. A lion needs their pride.
Sagittarius, you are certainly proud of your accomplishments. But you are only allowing yourself to be proud of certain accomplishments. Don’t be blind to your more personal achievements.
What This Card Means for Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Emperor card speaks to their determination to reach their goals.
Taurus, after so many years of being called stubborn, you may be trying to suppress that part of yourself. This card wants you to let your tenacity shine and assert yourself.
Virgo, you tend to be a little bit timid when tackling your goals. This card wants you to banish this anxiety and embrace your earthly strength and industriousness.
Capricorn, this card wants you to tap into your leadership skills. You are going to need a great team if you all want to accomplish your collective goals.
What This Card Means for Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Emperor card speaks to their need to use their voice in pursuit of fairness.
Gemini, though you are the most communicative sign in the zodiac, there may be some people in your life who want to silence you. This card wants you to free yourself of those people.
Libra, you always try to see both sides of a situation. This is commendable, but there are some conflicts that you simply cannot remain neutral in. It is time to choose a side and defend the people on that side.
Aquarius, there may be some people in your life that are having trouble standing up for themselves. If you are in a position to do so, this card wants you to speak up for them.
What This Card Means for Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Emperor card speaks to their need to stick up for themselves.
Cancer, you may feel like you are not being emotionally or creatively validated by your peers. This card wants you to give yourself the respect and the accolades you so rightly deserve.
Scorpio, you may be your biggest and most unforgiving critic. This card wants you to stop bullying yourself. Tearing yourself down will not make you stronger.
Pisces, when confronted with conflict, your first instinct is to escape the situation. This card wants you to stay put and stand your ground. Don’t let people push you around.
Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull! In honor of the Emperor getting his groove back, here is a bit of nostalgia for you all!
