Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!
Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).
I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.
The Star
This week I pulled the Star card, the card of dreams. This card belongs to the Major Arcana and it is believed that Major cards hold deeper and more specific meaning. In my grandmother’s deck, the Star is depicted as a nude feminine figure kneeling underneath a giant gold star and seven smaller white stars. The figure kneels with one foot in a pool of water and one knee on a patch of grass. The figure holds two water pitchers, pouring one out into the pool, and pouring the other one out onto the patch of grass. However, the card may look different based on which deck you use.
Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. This card represents good fortune and notoriety. The Star symbolizes attaining your dreams and desires through perseverance. This card encourages the querent to tackle their goals and ambitions head on. The Star card is a literal manifestation of the phrase “shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you will land amongst stars.”
This card can also represent the imposter syndrome that can overtake the querent if they are too apprehensive of following their dreams.
What This Card Means for Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Star card speaks to your desire to follow a path that you are passionate about.
Aries, you have been stuck in an occupational rut. You frequently find yourself daydreaming about a creative project that you want to start or a certain competition that you want to join. Now is the time to go after everything that you want.
Leo, you have been overwhelmed with the need to perform. It may be hard for you to find an outlet to do so with recent current events. Try auditioning for a play at a theater with proper health and safety precautions. Or try your luck on a performative app like Tiktok.
Sagittarius, lately you have been feeling mentally and intellectually stagnated. There are so many places you want to visit and so many things you want to learn. Take a few days to quarantine and take a precautionary test. If it all comes back clear, take a mind-expanding road trip.
What This Card Means for Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Star card speaks to your ambitious and determined nature.
Taurus, every day you get a clearer picture of the life you want to live. In the past, you have resented your current situation, but now you see it as a stepping stone that carries you to your goals. Get the most out of your situation that you can, and leave when it no longer serves you.
Virgo, you have helped everyone around you achieve their goals, now it is your turn. Your love and dedication to others is admirable, but you must turn some of that love and dedication inward to achieve the things that you want.
Capricorn, your ambition and determination have gotten you very far in life and you have a lot to be proud of. But your most recent goal may be more easily achieved through charisma rather than willpower. You catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar.
What This Card Means for Air Signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)
Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Star card speaks to your need for self-confidence and represents your new-fangled ideas.
Gemini, you keep going back and forth on whether or not you want to move forward with your pursuits. You must try your hardest to ignore the false words of imposter syndrome. You are intelligent and expressive and you can achieve anything.
Libra, you have kept your dreams to yourself for a long time. Your dreams won’t go anywhere if you keep them locked away inside of you. Share your ideas with your loved ones. Their emotional support may push you in the right direction.
Aquarius, your sign is especially connected to this card, and not just because the figure on the card bears a striking resemblance to a water-bearer. Your mind is filled to the brim with strange yet innovative ideas. In the past, you may have been worried that your ideas would be misunderstood, but now you are ready to share those ideas with the world.
What This Card Means for Water Signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio)
Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Star card speaks to the limitlessness of your dreams.
Cancer, your creativity knows no bounds. You are really excited about a new creative project you just started. Keep at it even if it only brings you personal success rather than professional success. Your emotional well-being is more important than your monetary gain.
Scorpio, your secretive ways have hindered your sensual nature. It is time to tell that special someone that you have feelings for them. I know it may be scary but you may be pleasantly surprised by their answer.
Pisces, you have been criticized in the past for daydreams, but now those same daydreams may be your ticket to a new life. Ignore your haters. And if they can’t be ignored, turn your haters into your motivators.
