Tarot Tuesday: The Knight of Wands

What does the Knight of Wands have in store for you this week? Read on and find out!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Each Tuesday I pull a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and write about what the card could mean for each sign, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.

Something different happened during this week’s tarot pull. For the first time since I started writing these tarot articles, I pulled a card that I have already pulled and written about before pulling a second card. I’m writing about the second card I pulled today, but if you wish to read about the first card, the Nine of Pentacles, you can do so here.

This week I pulled a court card, The Knight of Wands. A Knight card can represent a specific younger (in age or mentality) masculine figure. Or more abstractly, it can represent a need for independence. This court card can represent freedom and adventure. But it can also represent ego and selfishness.

Wands are the suit of creativity and independence. A wand card represents a need to pursue your own artistic desires and joy. It could also represent travel, success, and a gathering of friends. When a wand card pops up in a reading, it symbolizes personal achievement.

In my grandmother’s deck, the Knight of Wands is depicted as a young, masculine figure wearing armor, yellow garments, and a red feather in his helmet. He rides a fiery red steed and holds a large wand in his hand. In the background, you can see the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. This card can represent an adventurous and charismatic figure in your life. This person may present exciting opportunities for you, but they may also be unreliable due to their ever-changing plans. The Knight of Wands can also represent a desire for travel.

This card can also present a challenge for the querent to stick with a routine.

What This Card Means for Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. This card may hold more significance for you because the Wands are the suit of fire. The Knight of Wands speaks to your need for a change of scenery.

Aries, things are changing for you. And some of these changes may prove to be more than a little overwhelming. It may be a good idea to get away for a few days to clear your head and plan your next move.

Leo, you need a vacation and you need to be surrounded by people who love you. If you are able, charm your friends into taking a quick road trip with you.

Sagittarius, things have gotten a little too stressful for you, and that stress can cause you to make hasty decisions. Lay low for a while or get away for a couple of days to give yourself some peace.

What This Card Means for Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Knight of Wands speaks to your need for professional and personal success.

Taurus, your charisma is the key to your success. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Summon all your Venus energy to get the things you want and deserve.

Virgo, this card wants you to tap into your entrepreneurial spirit. But this card also wants you to be mindful of those who are assisting you. You don’t want to lose loyal friends due to your go-getter spirit.

Capricorn, this card wants you to be wary of those who would use you to get ahead in life. You have worked hard for all that you have and you do not need certain people taking advantage of your generous spirit.

What This Card Means for Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Knight of Wands speaks to your ability to talk yourself out of trouble.

Gemini, it may be time to reach out to a person whom you haven’t spoken to in a while. If you are on bad terms with this person, it may be time to put your excellent writing skills to good use and write them a letter. If this doesn’t clear the air, it may still give you closure.

Libra, like Taurus, you too may have to summon your Venus energy and charm. You may have accidentally hurt someone you love. If this is the case, now is the time to open your heart and talk it out with them.

Aquarius, your tendency to self-isolate may have your friends feeling ghosted. Deep down, they probably know that you didn’t mean to disappear, but it may be nice to reach out to them and check in on how they are feeling.

What This Card Means for Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Knight of Wands speaks to your need for consistency without stagnation.

Cancer, your routine has left you feeling stagnated. This card wants you to consider shaking things up every now and then. You need a little excitement in your life.

Scorpio, you have an exciting life and this excitement may leave you feeling a little unbalanced. This card wants you to take it easy for a little while.

Pisces, this card wants you to set up a routine for yourself. Developing a comprehensive list of the things that you need to do will help you set aside time to do the things that you want to do.
