Let me just say that it was so difficult to limit myself to only twelve songs for the musically-inclined Pisces. There are literally too many songs that are perfect for the mutable water sign.
We are currently enjoying Pisces season and I can think of no better way to celebrate the sweet and sentimental fish than with a playlist that will inspire you to dance, sing, and create your own little fantastical world!

Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
Written and performed by the Eurythmics.
We are kicking off this dreamy playlist with an even dreamier song. This blast from the past will enliven Pisces’ evocative sensibilities. The funky beat and repetitive and trance-like lyrics will entice you into dancing like nobody’s watching. Listen to this song when you feel like traveling the world and the seven seas.
Also, please listen to the Eurythmics version. Marilyn Manson doesn’t deserve the attention.
A Pirate Looks at Forty
Written and performed by Jimmy Buffett.
This song tells the story of a man who followed the call of “Mother Mother Ocean” and fulfilled his aspirations of becoming a pirate. Pisces will appreciate the song’s themes of following your dreams even when your dreams are highly unrealistic.
The Poison
Written and performed by The All-American Rejects.
The imaginative water sign will love the Wonderland imagery in this song from the Almost Alice companion album to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. This is a great song for anyone who has Pisces somewhere in their chart or for anyone who loves a Pisces. Really, the whole Almost Alice album is perfect for Pisces. It illustrates the Piscean child-like wonder and need for escape. Also, the lead guitarist for The All-American Rejects, Nick Wheeler, is a Pisces!
Heart-Shaped Box
Written and performed by Nirvana.
Are you ready for another trip down memory lane with this 90’s classic? Sung by the late, great Pisces singer Kurt Cobain, this song has very… shall we say interesting themes. The water sign will like the darkly poetic lyrics. Some lines even include allusions to the mutable sign.
Dream On
Written and performed by Aerosmith.
The Pisces playlist gets all the good oldies! This song is perfect for Pisces. On the surface, the tune’s chorus sounds like it is about following your dreams. But when you actually listen to the lyrics you realize that it is about wistfully looking back on the past and reveling in the memories while making new memories in the present.
Take Me To Church
Written and performed by Hozier.
Trigger Warning: This song may be particularly upsetting for those who are deconstructing their religious trauma.
The Pisces singer Hozier uses expressive language and intense imagery to tell the story of a person leaving their abusive religious situation. Free-thinking Pisces will appreciate the poetic lyrics and the brief yet poignant allusions to paganism
I Wish I Was The Moon
Written by Merle Travis and Ned Fairchild. Performed by Neko Case.
I know what you are thinking. “This is a song about the moon. Shouldn’t it be in a Cancer playlist?” Don’t worry, I have a ton of moon songs lined up for the Cancer playlist. I chose this song for the Piscean playlist because of its dreamy and romantic lyrics. Also, the tarot card for Pisces is The Moon. But we will talk about that next week.
Diamonds
Written by Sia Furler, Benjamin Levin, Mikkel S. Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen. Performed by Rhianna.
I know you didn’t think I would leave out the beautiful Piscean singer Rhianna. If anyone could find light in a beautiful sea it would be a Pisces. This song perfectly illustrates what it is like to be so in love with your partner that you are intoxicated by their very presence.
Down By The Water
Written and performed by PJ Harvey.
Little fish, big fish, swimming in the water! This song has seemingly very dark themes. However, I think the mutable water signs will appreciate the edgy poetry in PJ Harvey’s lyrics. This song is not so much about drowning someone as much as it is about trying desperately to find yourself and feeling lost.
Brand New Colony
Written and performed by The Postal Service.
The poetic Pisces will love this song’s interesting beat and vivid imagery. The creative lyrics and romantic themes will inspire the water sign to free themselves from the conventions of society or “the cynics in this town” and live the life that they have always wanted to.
Fictional Character
Written and performed by Jessie Paege.
Pisces have a penchant for escapism. When life gets too hard, it is easier and more pleasant for them to escape into a book or into their own fantasy. That is why this song by Piscean singer Jessie Paege will resonate with them so well. They will love lyrics like “escapism is my love language.”
Dreams
Written and performed by The Cranberries.
Pisces, this song will speak to your well-developed sense of nostalgia. It feels like this song was featured in almost every summer blockbuster in the ’90s and early 2000s. This melody will take you back to a simpler time. While the lyrics “oh my life is changing every day” will give you hope for the future.
