A Revolutionary Playlist for Aquarius

It's time for the rebel of the zodiac to let the sun shine in and move their bodies to this epic playlist!

The moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter has aligned with Mars. It is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius! Just to be clear, the moon is not actually in the seventh house right now and Jupiter is not currently aligned with Mars. I just couldn’t resist referencing Hair lyrics.

We are currently in Aquarius season and it is time for the rebellious water-bearer to shine. I have compiled a comprehensive playlist that will get everyone with a prominent Aquarius placement on their feet!

Strong Enough

Written and performed by Sheryl Crow. Co-written by Bill Bottrell, Kevin Gilbert, Brian Macleod, David Ricketts, and David Baerwald.

Sheryl Crow is an Aquarius sun. She is also an Aquarius Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Dang girl, leave some Aquarius for the rest of us.

With all of these Aquarian placements, I had to include one of her most famous ballads on this list. This song perfectly illustrates the water bearer’s need for a companion who truly understands them and can be there for them even when they are their own worst enemy.

Written and performed by Megan Thee Stallion. Co-written by Anthony White, Bobby Session Jr., and Akeasha Boodie.

Surely you didn’t think I would neglect to feature the Aquarian rapper Megan Thee Stallion on this playlist, did you? This song perfectly embodies an emotionally mature Aquarius who unapologetically loves who they are. Aquarians should listen to this song when they need a reminder of just how savage they are.

Rebel Girl

Written and performed by Bikini Kill.

Aquarians are nothing if not revolutionary and this song encompasses that extreme spirit perfectly. Lyrics like “when she talks, I hear the revolution,” will resonate with the fixed air sign and they will want to scream the chorus at the top of their lungs. Aquarians can listen to this song when they need a reminder of just how awesome they are.

Written and performed by Katy Perry and Kanye West. Co-written by Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, and Joshua Coleman.

Aquarians often get maligned as weirdos, outsiders, or aliens, but they don’t let the jeers get to them. They wear these monikers like a badge of honor. This song will inspire them to lean into the stereotype and have some fun with it. This song will also help them feel a little feisty and sexually rebellious.

Born This Way

Written and performed by Lady Gaga. Co-written by Jeppe Laursen.

Like I mentioned earlier in this article, Aquarians are unapologetically proud of who they are and who they want to become. And this song reminds them that they are fabulous just the way they are. So roll your hair and put your lipstick on because you are beautiful in your own way.

Strange Fruit

Written by Abel Meeropol. Performed by Billie Holiday.

Trigger Warning: This song illustrates systemic violence against BIPOC. If you are not in a good mental place to read this section, please move on to the next song.

Aquarians hate injustice, and Billie Holiday — an Aquarius ascendant — wanted to perform a song that brought the violence that BIPOC were facing to light. May we hear this song and be inspired to fight for justice. And may we always remember how Billie Holiday was treated by our own government for singing this song, and never let something like that happen again.

Written and performed by La Roux.

It takes a lot for an Aquarius to come out of their shell. This is why it can sting twice as much when they are hurt by someone whom they allowed themselves to be vulnerable with. This song speaks to their tendency to fortify themselves against people who would take advantage of them.

Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In

Written by James Rado and Gerome Ragni for the musical Hair. Covered by the 5th Dimension.

Of course I had to put this song on the list. Not only does it have “Aquarius” in the title, but it also has revolutionary and astrological lyrics. The verses illustrate the sweeter side of revolution with phrases like “Harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust abounding, no more falsehoods or derisions.” The allusions to celestial houses and transits will also resonate with the star-gazing air sign.

I Love It

Written by Charli XCX , Patrick Berger, and Linus Eklöw. Performed by Icona Pop and Charli XCX

This is the ideal summer anthem for the independent and revolutionary Aquarius. This song will not only get you excited for the season, but also re-energize your out-of-this-world attitude. These lyrics will remind your haters that though they may want you down on earth, you are happy up in space.

Written and performed by Alicia Keys. Co-written by Linda Perry and Steve Mostyn

This is a feminist anthem — not only for Aquarians but for anybody who feels like they are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. This song will remind Aquarians of why they are fighting for social change and who they are fighting for. Even when you are a mess, you will put on a vest with an “S” on your chest.

You Are The Storm

Written and performed by Matraca Berg.

This song by the beautiful aquarian singer Matraca Berg is sort of the antithesis of Sheryl Crow’s “Strong Enough.” It tells the story of someone trying to care for and hold on to their lover, but they can’t because their lover is like a storm. This song will resonate with Aquarians because sometimes they feel like a storm and don’t want to be tied down.

Just Because I’m A Woman

Written and performed by Dolly Parton.

I told you that I would put Dolly on the Aquarius playlist. She is on the cusp after all. Aquarians are the quintessential social Justice warriors and they are fiercely proud of it. And that is why they will appreciate this great feminist classic from the Queen of country!

There you have it, Aquarius! Listen to this playlist when you need a little pick-me-up before taking on the world!
