We lost a rock and roll legend this month. David Crosby will always be remembered for being one of the most influential members of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. We will never forget you.
Let’s honor his memory by listening to a playlist of his songs that I created for the zodiac. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign. You can check your birth chart here.
Aries- For What It’s Worth
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, and Nash
It’s probably obvious why I paired this iconic song with Aries. I have often called Aries, the Warrior of the zodiac. So naturally, I had to pair them with a song that describes a literal and metaphorical battle. The cardinal fire sign will appreciate lyrics like “There’s battle lines being drawn, nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong.”
Taurus- Our House
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young
Taureans are the Homemakers of the zodiac. They go out of their way to make a house feel like a home. It stands to reason that a cozy fixed sign will love a cozy song. The lyrics “While I listen to you play your love songs, all night long for me, only for me, come to me now, and rest your head for just five minutes,” will resonate with the earth sign.
Gemini- Teach Your Children
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young
Geminis are known to be one of the most loquacious and eloquent signs in the zodiac. But not many people realize that they are one of the most studious and sympathetic signs as well. So they will appreciate a song that extols the values of teaching the next generation important lessons.
Cancer- Sea of Madness
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young
It may seem pretty obvious why I paired the cardinal water sign with a song with the word “sea” in the title.” But I paired this song with Cancer for other reasons. Cancerians are known to be as compassionate as they are creative. So they will appreciate the poetic and sentimental lyrics like “I’ve never seen it through these eyes before now, I don’t believe it, I think I’ll take it or leave it.”
Leo- So You Wanna Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star
Written and performed by The Byrds
It’s pretty easy to understand why I paired this song with larger-than-life Leo. The fire sign will appreciate the fun lyrics like “and with your hair swung right and your pants too tight, it’s gonna be alright.” But the fixed sign will also appreciate the darker, more dramatic undertones of the song.
Virgo- Love the One You’re With
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, and Nash
I feel like Virgo never gets paired with enough love songs. But David Crosby’s Venus sign was in Virgo, so it only makes sense to pair the pragmatic earth sign with a pragmatic love song. Virgos will appreciate no-nonsense lyrics like “And if you can’t be with the one you love, honey, love the one you’re with.”
Libra- Turn, Turn, Turn (To Everything There Is a Season)
Written by Pete Seeger. Performed by The Byrds
The cardinal sign will appreciate the diplomatic tone of this song. But that is not the only reason it’s made it onto the list. Libras crave balance and part of achieving that much-desired balance is realizing that there is a time for everything. Lyrics like “a time to kill, a time to heal, a time to laugh, a time to weep,” will resonate with the harmonious air sign.
Scorpio- Ballad of Easy Rider
Written and performed by The Byrds and co-written by Bob Dylan
If you have read my articles on Scorpio, you know that I often compare this paramour of the zodiac with a rushing river. So it only makes sense that I pair this fixed water sign with a song about rivers. But that is not the only reason for this pairing. Scorpios tend to get a bit restless, so they may relate to a song about a person longing for freedom.
Sagittarius- Compass
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young
Sagittarians are known for their insatiable wanderlust, so I had to pair them with a song called “Compass.” But I also paired the mutable fire sign with this song for its introspective lyrics. Sagittarians can listen to these lyrics and reflect on whatever emotional or spiritual journey they may be on.
Capricorn- 4 + 20
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young
Capricorn often gets paired with empowering songs but they don’t often get paired with melancholic ballads. The cardinal earth sign will have a long cathartic cry after listening to the song that tells the story of an overworked man who feels helpless. Capricorns will find lyrics like “He was tired of being poor and he wasn’t into selling door to door and he worked like the devil to be more” especially poignant.
Aquarius- Mr. Spaceman
Written and performed by The Byrds
Aquarians are often seen as outsiders. They sometimes even get compared to aliens. But they don’t care. They know that they are out of this world! So I know they will enjoy rocking out to this song that tells the story of a person meeting a man from outer space and begging him to take them with him.
Pisces- Guinnevere
Written and performed by Crosby, Stills, and Nash
It is believed that anyone who has Pisces in a prominent place in their birth chart has psychic tendencies. So I have a feeling they will love this song about a magical woman who draws pentagrams on everything. The mutable water sign is also known to be quite poetic, so they will love the beautiful imagery in this song.
Ophiuchus- It’s Been a Long, Long Time
Written by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn and performed by Bing Crosby
Ophiuchus is not a real zodiac sign and this is not a real David Crosby song. But it is a Bing Crosby song.
