First comes fame, then comes money, then comes a fashion line, right? Well, sort of.

While not every celebrity has ventured into the fashion industry, it does feel like a boatload of actors, actresses, and singers have tried to create a fashion empire.

Though some have very much succeeded, others are still trying to get their line off the ground. Hey, the fashion game isn’t for everyone!

From former A-list actress Reese Witherspoon to rap superstar Kanye West, here are celebrities who have started their own fashion line over the years.

Though Victoria Beckham became famous for being a pop star, she’s certainly known as a fashion designer these days. Her Victoria Beckham line has been worn by countless A-list stars and she’s a frequent fixture during New York Fashion Week.

As well as having her designer label, the mother of four designed a more affordable line for Target. It’s hard for singers who’ve had no background in fashion to make it in the designer world, but Beckham’s managed to be taken seriously.

Reese Witherspoon

What can’t Reese Witherspoon do? Along with all of her acting jobs and running her production company, Witherspoon managed to launch her fashion line, Draper James, in 2015.

Named after her grandparents, the line is a southern girl’s dream. Gingham dresses, flouncy skirts, and statement colors make up a lot of her line, which manages to be fairly affordable.

Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson’s name may not be synonymous with fashion, but the actress has managed to create one of the most profitable brands ever. Since 2010, Simpson’s fashion line (called Jessica Simpson) has earned nearly $1 billion in annual sales. Yes, $1 billion.

Not only is her merchandise in seemingly every major retail department store in the country, but she’s created a long-lasting brand that will almost certainly be around for many more years to come.

Kanye West debuted his clothing line with Adidas, Yeezy Season 1, back in 2015. Though his fashion brand is not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no question the rapper has cemented himself as a legitimate designer.

His ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, has constantly rocked his neutral-colored streetwear and popular sneakers, as has the rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Remember when these two were superstar child actors? Though Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are no longer actors, they have become fashion designers. In fact, they launched their line, The Row, back in 2006.

The line became so successful that they actually won the Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the prestigious CFDAs in 2012. Along with The Row, the Olsen twins have also created Elizabeth and James, which is a more affordable clothing line aimed at a younger audience.

After the launch of her Fenty Beauty line, Rihanna decided to jump into the fashion game. She’s had experience in the fashion industry, thanks to being the creative director of Puma, as well as creating a lingerie line, so it’s no surprise the Fenty label is making waves. In fact, Rihanna’s Fenty lingerie show streamed on Amazon Prime. Now that’s a success.
