Remember what it’s like to walk down a chilly street in your neighborhood and beam as you receive compliments for your awesome Halloween costume? Walking around with a chaperone or friends, you all scope out the best houses to collect yummy, sugary candy goodness.
Although you’d stop at every house with lit porch lights, you assumed that the homes with extreme decorations were the ones with the best treats. After all, if they put that much effort into their yard design, these neighbors probably put an equal amount of effort into their candy.
How can you be the best house on the block this Halloween? The earlier you put up your decorations, the more you’ll help your neighborhood get into the spirit. Be the talk of the street and put a smile on your neighbors’ faces as you set the bar with family-friendly, oh-so-spooky displays.
If you’re feeling creative, you can make your decorations. If not, or you just don’t have the time for it, we have you covered. We’ve created a list of festive yard displays you can buy on the fly. All monsters welcome!
Walmart’s Giant Spider
What’s Halloween without creepy crawlers? At $27.99, this affordable spider set comes with a 50″ black, furry spider and even more giant spider webs and cobwebs to match. The spider has flexible limbs, so you’re able to put it in any position you like. Kids and adults will be taken aback by the size of this decoration, as it claims to expand across 200 square feet.
Spirit Halloween’s Light-Up Jack-O’-Lantern Inflatable Archway
Let trick-or-treaters walk into the magic that is Halloween through this Jack-O’-Lantern Archway. It will act as a beacon to your house, as it lights up and stands at nine feet tall. The Jack-O’-Lanterns are menacing but just enough not to scare all the children away. Spirit Halloween sells the inflatable for $149.99.
Home Depot’s Hocus Pocus Inflatable
“Don’t get your knickers in a twist! We’re just three kindly old spinster ladies,” said Winifred Sanderson in Disney’s famous Hocus Pocus. Yet, the way this decoration sold out within hours tells us that the draw of these witch sisters is anything but humble. This lit, airblown self-inflatable comes in at 4.56 feet and will transport your home to Salem.
Walmart sells a similar option that features the sisters glaring into a cauldron, but that’s out of stock, too. Hopefully, one of the two retailers restocks so that you can get the Sanderson Sisters in time for Halloween.
Spirit Halloween’s Skeleton
Of course, we wanted to tell you all about Home Depot’s 12-foot Skeleton that gained popularity last year, but as it’s already sold out and doesn’t seem to be anywhere on the website at all, we had to improvise.
Spirit Halloween’s Skeleton Inflatable is a close second, as it’s 8-foot-tall and still overlooks the average child. Even more, it’s $49.99 and more affordable than the previous option.
