We can’t rely on much in 2020, but we can rely on Gwyneth Paltrow to provide us with her annual Goop Holiday Gift Guide.

If you’re not familiar with Goop (first of all, how dare you?), it is Paltrow’s semi-controversial wellness and lifestyle brand that has taken the world by storm over the past decade. From promoting eyebrow-raising diets to encouraging women to spend thousands of dollars on vitamins, Goop certainly has its fair share of haters.

However, Goop has also given us incredible laughs over the years, thanks in large part to the Holiday Gift Guide that feels crafted for only one percent of the population. While most of us can probably only afford five items on the list, it is fun to see what overpriced items the actress recommends.

Ranked from the least outrageous to the most outrageous, here are some of our favorites on her Wellness Gift Guide.

Breathwork

Breathwork, written by Andrew Smart, would be a perfect guide for someone in your life who is looking to get into meditation. 2020 has been a rough year for us all, so getting a book that promotes mental health is the way to go. Plus, it’s only $16.95!

Breathwork teacher Andrew Smart’s techniques are approachable for all levels, and honor a range of traditions, including Zen, Somatic, and Holotropic breathing,” Goop says. “While easy to follow, these powerful exercises—which pair breathing exercises with meditation—have the potential to decrease anxiety, enhance energy, and increase clarity.”

Habit Journal

For just $24, this journal helps you to meet your personal goals using a structured format. There are questions to challenge you, calendars to keep you in check, and enough free space to allow you to release your thoughts. We all would benefit from journaling a little bit more, so this gift is definitely not outrageous.

Crystal Elixer Straws

Eliminating the use of plastic straws and moving towards metal or glass straws is great, but not for $48! Save yourself the extra $40 and go buy some simple reusable straws from Amazon instead.

Matcha Maker Starter Kit

Matcha has taken the world by storm, with every Instagram influencer and celebrity drinking it. However, we’re not sure it’s worth $370. Actually, we know it’s not worth $370. While this matcha maker does look incredibly chic, you can find ways to drink this tea for way less.

The Farmstand

We thought growing your own food was supposed to be cheaper than buying it at the store, but that’s certainly not the case with The Farmstand. While we’re all for sustainability, this vertical garden costs a whopping $547! You’re probably better growing some lettuce out in your yard, it’ll save you a few hundred bucks.

Gemstone Heat Therapy Mat

This Gemstone Heat Therapy Mat could be yours, just as long as you have an extra $1,049 lying around. According to Goop, this mat “combines five natural therapies: hot stones, far-infrared light, red light, pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF), and negative ions” for an at-home spa treatment.

Now, this is probably a good gift for the moment — seeing as most of us are still stuck at home — but is it really worth a thousand bucks? We’ll let you be the judge of that.
