A few weeks ago, the world was blessed with the first official trailer for the highly anticipated film Barbie. Everything in the trailer from Margot Robbie’s perfectly plastic smile to her unbendable feet resurrected a deep sense of nostalgia within those who spent hours of their childhood playing with the iconic doll.
Today, to honor that nostalgia, we are pairing up the zodiac signs with different types of Barbie dolls. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising sign as well as your sun sign. You can check your birth chart here!
Aries- Rollerblade Barbie
We all know that Aries is an adventurous little firecracker. And that is why I paired them with this awesome (and recalled) Barbie. The brave and active cardinal sign would love to play with such a sporty doll. But that’s not the only reason for this pairing. Whenever this Barbie glides around on her skates, sparks fly out of them…which is one of the reasons it was recalled.
Taurus- Bakery Chef Barbie
I often call Taurus a wholesome hedonist. That may sound like I am saying that they are lascivious, but I don’t necessarily mean it that way. I call them hedonistic because they are dedicated to enjoying all the little pleasures that life has to offer. And one of those little pleasures is good food. And that is why I paired the fixed earth sign with Chef Barbie.
Gemini- Teacher Barbie
Geminis are known to be quite intelligent and studious. They are also known to be sympathetic and friendly. So it is safe to assume that they would make excellent teachers. I had to pair them with the iconic Teacher Barbie from 1995, who came with her very own classroom and an outfit that would put Ms. Frizzle to shame.
Cancer- Mermaid Barbie
Cancerians are cardinal water signs. So it only makes sense to pair them with a Barbie who is a mythical creature from the watery deep. The cool thing about being paired with Mermaid Barbie is that you have several iterations to choose from. Mattel produces a new Mermaid Barbie every couple of years. They even make Mermaid Barbie movies!
Leo- Malibu Barbie
Leo gets to be paired with a super vintage Barbie. Malibu Barbie was first introduced to the world back in 1971. I paired this Barbie with the fixed fire sign because I’m sure the sun-ruled Leo would love to soak up some rays just like the sun-kissed beach blonde doll.
Virgo- Animal Rescue Barbie
Everyone knows that Virgos are helpful and hardworking. But did you know that they also tend to be kind-hearted and environmentally conscious? Since the mutable earth sign loves nature so much, I just had to pair them with Animal Rescue Barbie. This doll comes with toy animals as well as a rescue center.
Libra- Art Teacher Barbie
Libras are ruled by Venus, the planet that rules our aesthetic tastes. So it is safe to assume that they have an eye for art. The cardinal air sign knows an artistic masterpiece when they see it. So I’m sure they will love being paired with a Barbie who is also an art teacher.
Scorpio- Ballerina Barbie
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I have never met a Scorpio who couldn’t dance or, at the very least, move with grace. So I think they would like to be paired with one of the several versions of Ballerina Barbie. Plus, anyone who has seen Addams Family Values knows that Debbie would totally be a Scorpio, since she is so graceful and delicate!
Sagittarius- Doctor Barbie
Sagittarians are known to be quite intelligent. There is a reason that I call them “sagely Sagittarians.” They are also charitable and love to help people. It only makes sense to match a sign that is wise and helpful with a Barbie whose profession requires her to be the same. The mutable fire sign gets paired with Doctor Barbie!
Since Barbie is made out of plastic, does that mean that she would be a plastic surgeon? Let’s see if my editor leaves that terrible joke in.
Capricorn- President Barbie
I mentioned earlier in the article that there have been many iterations of Mermaid Barbie. There have also been several versions of President Barbie. I often say that Capricorn is the executive of the zodiac. So it only made sense to pair the cardinal earth sign with a Barbie that represents the executive branch of our government.
Aquarius- UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Barbie
Aquarians are the revolutionaries of the zodiac. They are incredibly compassionate and will always be there for their loved ones and those who are in need. So naturally, I had to pair them with the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Barbie. This Barbie was released in 1989 and comes with a beautiful white and blue ball gown with a red sash. Pisces- Bedtime Barbie
Pisces are known to be the dreamiest sign in the zodiac. And I mean that in several senses of the word. Not only do they look dreamy (I have never met a Pisces who wasn’t super cute) but they are also driven by their dreams. And the best way to access their dreams and desires is through the realm of sleep. And that is why I paired them with Bedtime Barbie. She can even close her eyes…sorta.
Ophiuchus- Ken
Ophiuchus is not a real zodiac sign, and Ken is not Barbie. He’s just Ken! Also, who looked at a Ken doll and thought, “oh yeah, little girls will totally want to shave his face?”
