Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!
Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).
I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign. You can check your birth chart placements here.
The Six of Wands
This week I pulled the Six of Wands, the card of victory. In tarot, the number six usually represents balance and harmony. More specifically, it represents peace and hope after a troublesome time.
Wands are the suit of creativity and independence. A wand card represents a need to pursue your own artistic desires and joy. It could also represent travel, success, and a gathering of friends. When a wand card pops up in a reading, it symbolizes personal achievement.
In my grandmother’s deck, the card is depicted as a youth riding a white steed. They wear a red tunic and a green laurel wreath on their head. They hold a staff that is adorned with another laurel wreath. There is a crowd walking alongside the rider and the horse. Amongst the crowd, five of them carry staves like the rider. The horse wears a green caparison.
Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. This card represents a triumph or success, but not an instantaneous success. It represents a long-term victory. The Six of Wands wants you to keep persevering in your occupational and career endeavors. When this card pops up in a reading, it can represent freedom from an oppressive situation.
This card also encourages the querent to stand out in the crowd.
What This Card Means For Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. This card may hold more significance for you because the Wands are the suit of fire. The Six of Wands speaks to your desire to win and overcome your obstacles.
Aries, you will achieve success if you take the first step. You should see this step as a leap of faith. It may be scary, but it is crucial to your victory.
Leo, you are succeeding in your endeavors. But this card wants you to use your success to overcome the things that are infringing on your freedom.
Sagittarius, this card does not want you to live up to other people’s expectations. It wants you to defy and/or surpass them. Expectations are nothing but limitations.
What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Six of Wands speaks to your desire for personal and professional success.
Taurus, this card wants you to get everything your heart desires. The first step to getting the things you want is to ask for them in a clear and concise manner.
Virgo, for you, this card represents a spiritual or emotional success. Times may be sad or dark right now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel waiting for you.
Capricorn, you may have been given an opportunity that is not ideal but prosperous. But you don’t have to be in that situation forever. Let the opportunity take you as far as it can until you no longer need it.
What This Card Means For Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Six of Wands speaks to your need for freedom.
Gemini, this card speaks to your desire to have control over your occupational and creative endeavors. You don’t want to be held down by other people’s expectations.
Libra, you may have found yourself trapped in the middle of a contentious situation. You may be trying to please everyone on both sides of the situation. This card wants you to free yourself from the middle.
Aquarius, you don’t like to feel trapped. And this card wants you to free yourself from the oppressive situation that you find yourself in.
What This Card Means For Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Six of Wands speaks to your need to pursue your artistic dreams.
Cancer, this card wants you to get out of your own head. Stop worrying so much about how people will perceive your art. All that matters is how you feel about it.
Scorpio, you may have found yourself in an unfamiliar situation and you may be struggling with adapting with your new surroundings. This card wants you to allow these changes to inspire your creative works.
Pisces, this card is begging you to revisit the creative project that you have kept on the back burner. Regardless of whether or not this project brings you notoriety, it will bring you a sense of accomplishment.
