Read on to find out what the King of Pentacles has in store for you!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Happy New Year!

Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign. You can check your birth chart placements here.

This week I pulled a court card, the King of Swords. Kings often represent an older masculine figure such as a father, romantic partner, or an authority figure. They also represent power and success in attaining your goals. However, they can also represent stubbornness or a bully.

Pentacles are the suit of dependability and material comforts. This suit often symbolizes home, family, and ambitious or occupational pursuits. When a Pentacle card pops up, it usually represents the need for common sense and practicality.

In my grandmother’s deck, the King of Pentacles is super colorful! The card is often depicted as a regal masculine figure. The king wears a long robe decorated with green leaves, red berries, and blue vines. He is surrounded by verdant vines and shrubbery that seem to blend in with his cloak. He sits on a dark throne with gold and silver bullheads carved into it. In the background sits a majestic shiny castle with red and blue turrets.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The King of Pentacles card represents practicality and financial stability. It can also represent a supportive and loving masculine figure in your life. They may be a romantic partner, a family member, an employer, or just someone who wants to assist you. This is a person whom you can rely on. This card can also symbolize a promotion or success in a business venture.

However, the King of Pentacles can represent greed or someone who is willing to throw others under the proverbial bus in pursuit of success. It can also symbolize someone who is hesitant to travel.

What This Card Means For Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The King of Pentacles speaks to your desire to succeed in your endeavors.

Aries, if you have been worried about a promotion at work or a new project you have been working on, this card wants you to relax. Your hard work will be met with success.

Leo, if you have been particularly concerned with money, this card wants you to enlist the help of an accountant who can put your mind at ease.

Sagittarius, like with Aries, if you have been worried about a promotion at work, this card wants to assure you that you will have plenty of opportunities.

What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. This card may hold more significance for you because the Pentacles are the suit of earth. The King of Pentacles wants you to consider new possibilities.

Taurus, if you are in a financially secure place, this card wants you to indulge a little bit. Don’t be too frivolous with your spending but you can afford a pleasurable luxury or two. Also, Taureans must really love this card since there is bull imagery in the depiction.

Virgo, this card wants you to carefully consider the opportunities that you have been presented with before choosing what is best for you. It is okay to take the advice of a trusted confidant.

Capricorn, you may have been presented with the opportunity to travel. But you may be hesitant to take this opportunity. Carefully weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.

What This Card Means For Air Signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The King of Pentacles speaks to your desire for emotional support.

Aquarius, there may be someone who is ready and willing to take advantage of you. So it is important that you surround yourself with people whom you can trust.

Gemini, this card wants you to accept help from close friends and family members who want to assist you. Don’t be proud. We all need help sometimes.

Libra, you may have been hurt in the past and now it’s hard for you to trust people. If there is a person who is eager to help you, let them. They may be able to aid in the healing process.

What This Card Means For Water Signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The King of Pentacles speaks to your need for support and advice and your desire to give support.

Pisces, there may be a romantic prospect in your life who is eager to emotionally support you. If you are able to support them as well, this could be the start of a beautiful partnership.

Cancer, people may be coming to you for life or financial advice. It is important that you speak clearly and concisely when offering guidance.

Scorpio, you may have been eager to help your loved ones in any way possible. This is admirable, but this card wants you to accept help as eagerly as you give it.

Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull! In the meantime, let’s honor the King of Pentacles by enjoying this classic from McFadden and Whitehead!
