Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!
Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).
I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.
The Ace of Pentacles
This week I pulled the Ace of Pentacles card. This is the card of solutions. In tarot, an Ace, or the number one, represents innovation and opportunity. When an Ace card is pulled, it usually means the arrival of a positive change. An Ace card also denotes good fortune or renewal of energy.
Pentacles are the suit of dependability and material comforts. This suit often symbolizes home, family, and ambitious or occupational pursuits. When a Pentacle card pops up, it usually represents the need for common sense and practicality.
In my grandmother’s deck, the Ace of Pentacles is depicted as a disembodied, heavenly hand extending from a cloud and holding a giant gold coin. The coin has a pentacle carved into it. The hand and coin appear to glow. Below the hand, there is a garden with white lilies and shrubbery. The shrubbery forms an arch. Through the arch, you can see a distant mountain range.
Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Ace of Pentacles card represents stability and opportunity. This card brings the promise of long-term success and improvements. However, if this card pops up in a reading, it comes with a warning. You cannot achieve the things you want or live the life you want by taking shortcuts. This card wants you to take practical action.
The Ace of Pentacles can also signify a good time to renovate or redecorate your space.
What This Card Means For Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Ace of Pentacles is trying to speak to your impulsive and impatient nature.
Aries, this card reminds you that you will never get to live the life you want if you don’t think through your plans and put them into action.
Leo, you have built the life that you have through methodical planning. Don’t start to lose your patience just because your success is not as immediate as you’d like it to be.
Sagittarius, it is easy to want to run away from a certain problem in your life. This card does not want you to run away. Face your problems head-on.
What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. This card may hold more significance for you because the Pentacles are the suit of earth. The Ace of Pentacles speaks to your work ethic and need for stability.
Taurus, this card wants to take care of your mental and emotional stability. But doing so may require you to put in a lot of work with a mental health professional.
Virgo, everyone knows that you have an exceptional work ethic. But this card doesn’t want you to use work as an excuse to avoid important personal situations.
Capricorn, working yourself to death is not going to make you achieve what you want any faster. Pace yourself. As cliché as it sounds, slow and steady wins the race.
What This Card Means For Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Ace of Pentacles is encouraging you to be practical.
Gemini, you know that song “Learn To Be Still” by The Eagles? Yeah… this card wants you to listen to that song on repeat. Relax your body and quiet your mind before making big decisions.
Libra, you may think that you are being practical by staying in the middle course. But this card wants you to make a clear and responsible choice.
Aquarius, you pride yourself on your ability to think outside of the box. This card wants you to contain yourself within that box, only for a little, until you achieve your wanted goal. After you have achieved what you wanted, feel free to bust yourself out of that box.
What This Card Means For Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Ace of Pentacles wants you to focus on reality rather than fantasy.
Cancer, it’s okay to let your imagination run wild a little bit. But this card wants you to keep your feet firmly on the ground even while your mind is wandering.
Scorpio, you are in danger of assuming the worst about people or situations. Get all of the facts before you jump to conclusions.
Pisces, your imagination and innovation are great assets. But this card wants you to focus less on how things could be and focus more on how they actually are.
Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull! In the meantime, let’s honor the Ace of Pentacles by enjoying this trailer from the 2003 movie Shortcut to Happiness.
