Happy Aries season! Let’s celebrate them with a collection of powerful stories written by passionate people.
I have created a list of books that will speak to the cardinal sign’s feisty and fiery nature. Some books on this list are written by authors who happen to be Aries. And yes, since I am a loud and proud Aries, a lot of the books and authors on this list are some of my personal favorites.
People who have their sun, moon, and rising signs in Aries will love these stories. You can check your birth chart here!
The Witch Doesn’t Burn In This One
Written by Amanda Lovelace and published by Andrews McMeel Publishing (March 6, 2018)
Amanda Lovelace is not an Aries, but as a Scorpio, she shares a ruling planet with them. Aries are sometimes called witches. And sometimes we are called something that just rhymes with witches. And that is just one of the many reasons why this poetry collection about finding your own magic and fighting against those who wish to do harm will resonate so well with them.
Miss D and Me: Life with the Invincible Bette Davis
Written by Kathryn Sermak with Danelle Morton and published by Hachette Books (September 12, 2017)
This book may not have been written by an Aries (not that I would know because it was surprisingly hard to find the author’s birthday) but it is the story of one of the most iconic Aries women in the history of Hollywood. The fire sign will enjoy reading about how this fierce lady was towards the end of her life.
Flower Crowns and Fearsome Things
Written by Amanda Lovelace and published by Andrews McMeel Publishing (October 5, 2021)
I may have paired Aries with Athena on the Greek Goddess list, but you have to admit that the cardinal fire sign has a lot in common with Persephone as well. Persephone is the goddess of spring and Aries heralds in the spring. And she is also the queen of the underworld and Aries would happily rule Hell if it wasn’t for their short attention span. So naturally, I had to include a poetry collection that was heavily inspired by the Persephone myth.
And Still I Rise
Written by Maya Angelou and published by Random House (1978)
Maya Angelou is probably the most influential Aries writer on this list. Aries are known to be confident and optimistic. That’s why they will appreciate this collection of poems about finding one’s own strength and determination in the face of adversity. You may recognize one of the book’s most popular poems “Phenomenal Woman.”
Fight Club
Written by Chuck Palahniuk and published by W.W. Norton (August 17, 1996)
Aries do not start fights, but they are more than happy to finish them. I mean, they are the warriors of the zodiac. I would be doing a disservice to the rambunctious rapscallions if I didn’t pair them with a book about underground boxing rings plotting to plunge modern society into financial chaos.
The Optimist’s Daughter
Written by Eudora Welty and published by Random House (1972)
More classic literature by a classic Aries writer. Aries may be known for their temper and vivacity but they are also known for their unyielding optimism. So I have a feeling that they will appreciate this story of a woman who tries to honor the memory of her sanguine father.
Venomous
Written by Christopher Krovatin and published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers (November 1, 2008)
Let’s be real, Aries has acquired a reputation for being a tad bit temperamental. So I have a feeling that they will be able to relate to the main character’s anger issues. This book approaches anger management with a great amount of empathy.
Music For The Dead And Resurrected
Written by Valzhyna Mort and published by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux (November 3, 2020)
As I said earlier in the article, Aries are the warriors of the zodiac. As warriors, they will appreciate the poetry of Valzhyna Mort, a Belarusian woman who grew up in a time when violence and turmoil tore through the Soviet Union. Her words will resonate with the compassionate fire sign.
The Peach Keeper
Written by Sarah Addison Allen and published by Bantam (January 10, 2012)
Sarah Addison Allen is the last Aries author on the list, but she is certainly not the least. Aries are known to be undyingly loyal to their friends. They are so loyal that if you ever needed help hiding a body, Aries would be the first zodiac sign you would call. That is why they will love this tale of loyalty, intrigue, and unconventional romance.
The Sleeper And The Spindle
Written By Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Chris Riddell, and published by HarperCollins (May 14, 2019)
Neil Gaiman may not be an Aries, but the illustrator of this gorgeous book, Chris Riddell is. This charming take on the Snow White/Sleeping Beauty fairy tale is the ideal read for feisty Aries. This book is a darkly humorous tale of an impassioned queen who sets out on one last adventure before getting married. Though her journey does not play out as she expected. This story will awaken the warrior queen/king who resides in the hearts of all Aries.
