Style Tips That Will Raise Your Fashion Grade to an A+

Do you ever find yourself starring at people who are impeccably dressed while they’re out buying groceries and wonder how they manage to look so fashionable? I’ve been in this situation one too many times, usually while I’m dressed in a gross pair of sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt.

Being fashionable is hard, and it’s especially hard to do every single day. Sure, I can look cute for a night out with friends or if I’m going to an event, but I’ve often struggled to pull together looks for day-to-day activities.

However, after a recent week of wearing sweatpants every single day, I decided I wanted to up my game and actually put a little effort into what I wear.

Now, I’m not saying I started dressing like a Kardashian or a Hadid sister, but I went from looking pretty frumpy to kind of fabulous by making a few changes to my style (however, I do still love my sweatpants and wear them often).

If you’re wanting to improve your fashion grade, here are some style tips that’ll get you looking great every time you walk out of your door.

Organize Your Closet

First thing’s first, get your stuff in order. Donate things you don’t wear anymore, throw anything out that’s too worn, and organize the remaining items into categories.

This will help you to see everything you have and it’ll make you more excited to pick outfits in the morning.

Keep it Simple

There’s a misconception when it comes to fashion that in order to be “fashionable” you have to take a bunch of risks. However, that’s not necessarily true! In fact, some of the most fashionable people out there stick to a very basic wardrobe.

So, stick to what you love — whether that’s a great pair of jeans and a crisp white button-up or a simple black dress. You’ll always look incredibly chic.

Accessorize

One of the easiest ways to elevate an outfit is to add accessories. Start incorporating pieces of jewelry into your looks, invest in a couple of fun hats, or even grab a chunky scarf.

An outfit can go from simple and boring to fun and unique just by adding a funky ring, a pair of hoops, and a great hat.

Have a Go-To Outfit

We all should have that one outfit that we turn to in case of an emergency. And by emergency, I mean a surprise lunch with friends, an impromptu date, or a sudden work event (so not really an emergency at all).

Even if you’re someone who doesn’t like to shop or spend a lot of money on clothes, invest in an outfit you love and that you know you’ll wear forever.

Find a Tailor

So many of us have jeans that fit around our thighs but not around our waists, dresses that need to be taken out in certain places, and coats that should be hemmed.

If you’ve found some of your clothes just don’t fit quite right, gather up those pieces and take them to a tailor to get altered. Trust me when I say this will make a world of a difference when it comes to looking put together and properly styled.
