Easy Ways to Dress Up the Athleisure Look

Athleisure is certainly the trend of the moment, and it’s not just because we’re all spending so much time at home these days.

Just in the past couple of years sweatsuits and joggers went from pieces of clothing you wouldn’t dare leave your house in to outfits you could honestly wear out to dinner.

While this trend probably has something to do with the fact most of us are lazy, celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid, and Selena Gomez have made it look comfy and cool.

If you’re interested in hopping on the athleisure-train but don’t know how to dress up the look, here are some easy ways to do just that!

Add Fun Shoes

One of the easiest ways to take your athleisure look from the gym to a night out with friends is to add a shoe that pops.

Now, we’re not saying add a heel (though you totally could), but pairing leggings or joggers with a really cool sneaker definitely elevates the overall look.

Nike hightops, Converse, Vans, or simple Adidas white sneakers are all great options.

And, because we’re heading into fall, consider throwing on a pair of Doc Martens or boots to edge up the outfit.

Jacket, Please!

Whether you’re more into the denim look or you prefer a leather moment, adding a jacket will instantly amp up your athleisure look.

If you’re worried about looking too casual, switch up the jacket depending on where you’re going or what kind of activity you’re doing.

For example, a leather jacket may be more suitable for a nighttime event, while a bomber jacket may be fun for lunch with friends.

Accessorize!

Another easy way to dress up your athleisure wear is to add some jewelry to your look.

Add a fun gold chain, a couple of rings, and a pair of hoops and you have yourself a new outfit!

If you’re coming from the gym or your hair is not as cute as you’d like it to be, throw on a fun hat (like a newsboy cap, fedora, beanie, or beret).

A purse or handbag can also really complete a look, so if you want to feel a little more pulled together add a bright bag or cool backpack.

Simple Hair

If you don’t want to go with the hat look but you’re not wanting to do anything too crazy with your hair, go for a very simple ponytail or sleek bun.

This will instantly make you look more pulled together and disguise the fact that you’ve been exercising or out doing errands all day.

Pop of Lipstick

Wearing lipstick feels a little silly these days because we’re all wearing masks when we’re out and about, but adding a bright lip can instantly transform any look.

Whether you’re more of a red person or you prefer something a little pinker, lipstick has magical powers.

And, if you really want to elevate your look, throw on some mascara and a little bit of concealer and you’ll be good to go.

Not to mention, if you are coming from the gym, your cheeks will already be naturally a little red and you’ll have a little highlighter glow thanks to your sweat sesh.
