Anyone already feel like we need a do-over for 2021? You’re not alone. Luckily, tonight is the first new moon of the year, so let’s go ahead and consider this the beginning of 2021, shall we?
Tonight’s new moon is in grounded, practical Capricorn — an energy we could really use as we plot out our goals for the next lunar cycle, the next six months, and the next year as a whole. While some signs might have us lazily fantasizing about our wildest dreams, Cap is bringing the pragmatism we need to set measurable goals and create a plan of action to achieve them.
On a macro level, this moon is not without its drama. It gains some extra intensity thanks to its conjunction with Pluto, the planet of rebirth and renewal, but also destruction.
It will, in a sense, echo some of the more intense Capricorn transits of 2020, like the Saturn-Pluto conjunction on January 12, when we were first grappling with an unknown pandemic and the impeachment of a sitting president.
Other notable conjunctions were on April 5, June 30, and November 12 — all fraught times in the last year. We may be a bit older and wiser, able to handle some of this upheaval in stride, but don’t expect the dramatic shows of political power to end quite yet.
