Whether you’re needing inspiration for your Easter brunch or just want to entertain a few friends one weekend, here are some easy tips that’ll make hosting a total breeze.

Breakfast is delicious and lunch is wonderful, but there’s something about brunch that is out-of-this-world. I don’t know if it’s the fact you can have breakfast food and lunch food at the same time or it’s something about the time of day that it’s enjoyed (between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., of course), but regardless, brunch rules.

And, now that it’s getting warmer outside and many of us are in a more cheerful mood, it’s the perfect time to host a yummy brunch.

Whether you’re needing inspiration for your Easter brunch or just want to entertain a few friends one weekend, here are some easy tips that’ll make hosting a total breeze. Happy brunching!

Set Everything Out the Night Before

There’s nothing worse than waking up the morning you’re supposed to be having people over and realizing you’ve done nothing to prepare. To avoid this specific anxiety, set all your dishware out the night before.

Plates, silverware, napkins, coffee mugs, and glasses should be placed on the table so you know you aren’t forgetting anything. Though you don’t necessarily need to officially set the table the night before, it may be a good idea if you know you’ll have a lot to do the next morning.

Don’t Try to Be Too Fancy

I know it’s tempting to want to try a super fancy recipe when entertaining guests, but let me tell you from experience, it’s not always a good idea. I tried to make an elaborate casserole before hosting a brunch a few years back and it did not taste very good.

Instead, go with your tried and true brunch foods — eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast, fruit, etc. If you’re wanting to make a dish ahead of time, choose one you’ve made it before so you know exactly how long it takes to make and if it tastes good.

Plan Out Your Menu

You can’t just eat whatever you want when you go to a restaurant — you have to order off a menu. Your brunch should be the same! Guests shouldn’t come over expecting to eat whatever they want, so plan out your menu ahead of time and stick to it.

A good tip is to only serve one “category” of food. For example, pick between pancakes or french toast, bacon or sausage, and biscuits or muffins.

Go For Simple Decorations

You’re hosting a brunch, not a lavish ball, so don’t stress about the decorations or place settings. Instead, grab a few bouquets of fresh flowers and place those on your table. They’ll instantly brighten up your space and make the table look a little fancier.

Don’t Be Afraid to Buy Pre-Made Food or Beverages

I hate to break it to you, but you’re not Martha Stewart or Ina Garten. You don’t have to make every single dish or drink from scratch, nor should you! Save yourself time and energy and buy pre-made food.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with grabbing some store-bought muffins, cold brew from the grocery store, or croissants from your local bakery. Take some pressure off your plate, literally.
