Tarot Tuesday: The Ten of Cups

Read on to find out what the Ten of Cups have in store for you!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign. You can check your birth chart here.

The Ten of Cups

This week I pulled the Ten of Swords, the card of happy and lasting love. In tarot, the number ten represents the completion of our goals and endeavors. It can also represent getting rid of what is no longer needed and moving on to the next step.

Cups are the suit of romance and emotion. This suit can represent all stages of love, whether it be new, unrequited, or long-standing. When a cup card comes up in a reading it can mean that we must make a decision based on emotion rather than logic. This suit reminds us that it is okay to listen to our hearts rather than our heads sometimes.

In my grandmother’s deck, the card is depicted as a family consisting of two parents and two children. One parent and one child both wear reddish orange tunics and the other parent and the other child wear long blue dresses. The parents hug each other while the children dance around holding hands. In the background, there is a verdant field with trees and a stream. Above the family, there is a vibrant rainbow and ten floating golden cups.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Ten of Cups represents love, fidelity, children, a secure relationship, and a happy future. This card wants you to follow your heart and choose passion over security. This card can also represent the need to rekindle the romance in a past relationship or a current relationship.

However, this card can also represent a secret romance or love affair.

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Ten of Cups speaks to your desire for joy, bliss, and emotional security.

Aries, this card wants you to open your heart to the possibility of a new love that can help heal your inner self.

Leo, this card wants you to let go of a relationship that you’ve held onto out of convenience. It’s time to find a love that will reignite your passion.

Sagittarius, this card wants you to find a home where you feel safe and loved. Not just a house that holds your stuff.

What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Ten of Cups speaks to your need for commitment and emotional validation in your relationship.

Taurus, this card wants you to build a relationship with a partner where you both can help each other and build a life together.

Virgo, like with Taurus, this card wants you to focus on strengthening your current relationship or finding a relationship where you can establish a firm foundation to build a life on.

Capricorn, this card wants you to keep the lines of communication open with your partner. This is the best way to strengthen your bond.

What This Card Means For Air Signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Ten of Cups speaks to your need to feel safe mentally and emotionally rather than physically or financially.

Aquarius, you may be very concerned with your finances right now. But this card does not want you to make a romantic decision based on financial insecurity.

Gemini, this card wants you and your partner to support each other’s professional pursuits. But don’t put your job before your relationship.

Libra, this card wants you and your partner to take care of each other because you may both be struggling with your mental and emotional health.

What This Card Means For Water Signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. This card may hold more significance for you because the Cups are the suit of water. The Ten of Cups speaks to your desire to follow your heart rather than your head.

Pisces, this card wants you to pursue the life and love that you have always dreamed of. Do not settle for less!

Cancer, this card wants you to open your mind to the possibility of a new and exciting romance. It may also be a good time to go on an adventure with your partner.

Scorpio, like with Leo, this card wants you to find a romance that will reinvigorate your passion for life. Find someone who will make you excited about love again.

Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull! In the meantime, since the Ten of Cups is depicted with a beautiful rainbow, let’s listen to a beautiful and nostalgic song about rainbows.
