Tarot Tuesday: The Seven of Pentacles

Shutterstock

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.

The Seven of Pentacles

This week I drew the Seven of Pentacles. In tarot, the number seven represents spirituality, wisdom, mystique, or deception. It symbolizes the need to wait until one is ready to move forward. It can also represent healing and/or psychic abilities.

Pentacles are the suit of dependability and material comforts. This suit often symbolizes home, family, and ambitious or occupational pursuits. When a Pentacle card pops up, it usually represents the need for common sense and practicality.

In my grandmother’s deck, the Seven of Pentacles is depicted as a masculine youth dressed in an orange and blue tunic with blue leggings and brown boots. He is taking a moment to rest by leaning against a gardening tool. He gazes upon a large plant that he has grown and tended. There are seven pentacles adorning the giant plant. There is a mountain range in the background.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Seven of Pentacles symbolizes long-term financial stability that may grow steadily over the course of seven years. When this card pops up in a reading, it usually represents a good time to buy a home or invest in property. It can also represent the ability to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

What This Card Means For Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Seven of Pentacles speaks to your willpower and inability to relax.

Aries, your mind can be quite hyperactive and it can lead you to feel anxious and overthink. Instead of catastrophizing, this card wants you to ask yourself “what if everything works out for the better?”

Leo, you have worked incredibly hard to get to where you are. This card wants to remind you that it is okay just to rest and congratulate yourself for your hard work, rather than just working yourself to death.

Sagittarius, you are driven by your sense of wanderlust. This card wants to remind you that you do not have to always be on the go. It is okay to put down roots and find a home that you don’t have to runaway from.

What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. This card may hold more significance for you because the Pentacles are the suit of earth. The Seven of Pentacles speaks to your incredible work ethic and need for stability.

Taurus, this card wants you to imagine what your dream home could be like. Now is the time to think about redecorating or finding a new place where you can live and thrive.

Virgo, you are known as the “powerhouse of the zodiac” for a reason. You work hard, but this card wants you to rest and revel in the things that you have achieved.

Capricorn, if all you ever do is work, you will never enjoy the fruits of your labor. There is no point in working hard for a life that you can’t enjoy.

What This Card Means For Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Seven of Pentacles speaks to your need for a safe place to call your own.

Gemini, Virginia Woolf once said that a room of one’s own is needed to write. This card wants you to carve out a personal space for yourself so that your creativity can flourish.

Libra, aren’t you getting a little tired of taking care of everybody and making sure that everyone around you feels safe and calm? This card wants you to create a safe space for yourself.

Aquarius, your social battery may be running a bit low. This card wants you to take some alone time for yourself in your personal living space to regain your sense of self and recharge your batteries.

What This Card Means For Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Seven of Pentacles wants you to keep dreaming big.

Cancer, like Taurus, this card wants you to work hard to create the safe and beautiful home that you have always dreamed about.

Scorpio, like Aries, your mind may be a little hyperactive. This card wants you to focus your mind on one clear goal or dream and work towards it.

Pisces, whenever you feel like you can’t keep going, this card wants you to remember the dream that you are working so hard towards.

Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull. In honor of the Seven of Pentacles, let’s enjoy this song about working hard for the money.
