Tarot Tuesday: The Queen of Wands

Read on and find out what the Queen of Wands has in store for you!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Each Tuesday, I will pull a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and write about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week, or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.

Also, I want to mention that this week’s card was not the first card I pulled. I pulled the Nine of Pentacles first before pulling this week’s card. If you want to check out that card, you can do so here.

This week I pulled a court card, the Queen of Wands. A Queen card can represent a feminine person (often a matriarchal figure and/or authority figure) who must balance home life and work life.

Wands are the suit of creativity and independence. A wand card represents a need to pursue your artistic desires and joy. It could also represent travel, success, and a gathering of friends. When a wand card pops up in a reading, it symbolizes personal achievement.

In my grandmother’s deck, the Queen of Wands is a feminine figure wearing a yellow gown, a golden crown, and a silver cape with a tiger clasp. She sits on a golden throne decorated with images of red lions and sunflowers. She holds a staff-like wand in one hand and a sunflower in the other. A black cat sits in front of her, and there are mountains in the background.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Queen of Wands can represent a vivacious and creative feminine authority figure in your life. This may be a person whose strength and innovation may inspire you.

The Queen of Wands card can also represent the need for independence. Or it can represent the desire to pursue a creative career. This desire is driven more by personal fulfillment than monetary gain.

Be aware, this card can also represent a lack of both patience and humility.

What This Card Means For Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. This card may hold more significance for you because the Wands are the suit of fire. The Queen of Wands speaks to your desire for a creative career and your need for independence.

Aries, this card wants to know why you are holding yourself back from having the career and life that you want and worked so hard for. You need to have the confidence to follow your passion.

Leo, you are flourishing in your creative career. You may have suffered a setback here or there, but you have persevered. But be sure not to push away those who want to help you persevere.

Sagittarius, you have spent so many years of your life doing what you think you need to do. This card wants you to examine what you actually want to do. What sort of creative art will fulfill you?

What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Queen of Wands speaks to your ability to lead and inspire and your need for patience.

Taurus, you are quite patient when working with others. But this card wants you to channel some of that patience when dealing with the perceived weaknesses of your loved ones.

Virgo, as an earth sign, you embody strength. This card wants you to summon your emotional strength and mental fortitude to weather whatever life throws at you.

Capricorn, your leadership will inspire those who work with you. Remember to practice patience with your colleagues who may be struggling.

What This Card Means For Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Queen of Wands speaks to your need for complete freedom and control over your own life.

Gemini, you may feel like you are being silenced. But as one of the most communicative and poetic signs in the zodiac, you must be able to voice any concerns that you have.

Libra, you may have found yourself in the middle of a situation or dispute between two parties that have taken over your life. This card wants you to free yourself of this situation. Remember these wise words “not my circus, not my monkeys.”

Aquarius, it’s no secret that you are a tad bit unconventional. It is a label that you wear like a badge of honor. This card wants you to continue to dance to the beat of your own drum.

What This Card Means For Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Queen of Wands speaks to your desire to indulge in your artistic passions.

Cancer, like Pisces, this card wants you to revisit any creative projects that you have put on the back burner. This card also wants you to be patient with yourself and your abilities.

Scorpio, this card wants you to follow your passion and also practice patience. Don’t be so preoccupied with instant gratification.

Pisces, this card wants you to let your imagination soar. Your imagination will allow you to accomplish whatever creative endeavor you put your mind to.

Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull! In the meantime, enjoy this Queen song that celebrates freedom and creativity.
