Tarot Tuesday: The Page of Swords

Read on to find out what the Page of Swords has in store for you!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.

This week, I pulled a court card, the Page of Swords. I’ve pulled a Sword card two weeks in a row. A Page represents a younger, immature person who is in the process of growing up.

Swords are the suit of communication. But the suit can also represent logic, focus, and fearfulness. When a sword card pops up in a reading it can represent courage or the disruption of an unfair status-quo. It can also represent fears that are holding us back.

In my grandmother’s deck, the Page of Swords is depicted as an androgynous youth whose hair blows in the wind. They wear a pink and yellow doublet with green leggings and red boots. They hold a sword upright with two hands and stand in front of a cloudy backdrop as birds fly over their head.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Page of Swords represents a clever, some may say know-it-all young person who likes to tease others and challenge authority figures. It can also represent an overly defensive person who will not accept help or affection because they have been hurt or jaded in the past.

Read on to find out what this card means for your sign.

What This Card Means for Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Page of Swords speaks to your temperamental nature.

Aries, as I stated in yesterday’s article, you do not like to boss people around. But you are becoming increasingly frustrated with a person who does the opposite of everything you ask. This card wants you to understand that you are not the problem and that they just need some time to mature a little.

Leo, you do not have anything if you do not have your pride. Something has happened recently that has deflated your pride. Because of this, you find it hard to accept love or advice from others. This card wants you to be open to the help others want to give you.

Sagittarius, lately your first instinct has been to lash out first and ask questions later. You have not been very open to criticism and that is understandable. We can’t be open to criticism all of the time. That being said, this card just wants you to listen to what others have to say before lashing out.

What This Card Means for Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Page of Swords speaks to your helpful yet stubborn nature.

Taurus, you are known for your patience. But recently your patience is being tested. It seems like a loved one is going out of their way not to accept any help or guidance from you and it is frustrating. This card wants you to lend an ear before you lend a helping hand.

Virgo, something has happened that has caused you to feel helpless. You do not like this feeling because you are usually so strong and capable. People keep trying to give you advice but you don’t want advice, you want to sit with your feelings for a while. Tell your well-meaning friends this. True friends will understand.

Capricorn, put on some Lil Nas X because “can’t nobody tell you nothing.” You are very sure of yourself and you don’t feel the need to accept advice or help from anyone. This card wants you to listen to other people’s opinions and viewpoints. You may learn something that you didn’t know before.

What This Card Means for Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Page of Swords speaks to your tendency to isolate yourself.

Gemini, since you are the most communicative sign, it can be frustrating when someone who you care about won’t listen to you. You may have tried every tactic to get them to hear you out but they still won’t listen to you. This card wants you to let them do their own thing for a while. Let them come to you when they need advice.

Libra, since you are ruled by Venus you have a big heart. And due to recent circumstances, that heart may be broken right now. You are in a situation that you can’t fix or mediate and it is frustrating you. Since you are usually the one giving advice, it feels weird when other people try to give you advice. This card wants you to listen when you are ready.

Aquarius, you pride yourself on your wisdom and intellect. So when someone questions you or offers a different perspective you can be quick to shut them down. This card wants you to hear them out. You don’t have to agree. But it would be wise to listen.

What This Card Means for Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Page of Swords speaks to your self-pitying tendencies.

Cancer, you are falling into old self-deprecating habits. You may be blaming yourself for a recent rift or argument. It is good that you are taking responsibility, but this self-effacing behavior is not helping anybody, least of all yourself. It may be time to seek guidance from a professional.

Scorpio, your feelings have been hurt, and this hurt is making you regress into old childish tactics. These tactics may hurt people who you claim to care about. This card wants you to examine your own behavior rather than projecting.

Pisces, you have been hurt recently and that hurt has possibly led to you victimizing yourself which is understandable. However, this card wants to seek guidance and listen to all sides of the situation.
