Tarot Tuesday: The Chariot Card

Adobestock
It's Tarot Tuesday! Time to shuffle the deck and see what the cards have in store for us this holiday season!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for each zodiac sign, grouped by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week, or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.

The Chariot

This week I pulled The Chariot. This is the card of change. It belongs to the Major Arcana, and it is believed that Major cards hold deeper and more specific meanings. In my grandmother’s deck, it is represented as a masculine figure driving a chariot pulled by two animals or beasts, with a city view in the background as if it is being left behind. However, the card may look different based on which deck you use.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Chariot represents a notable life change. This may be a major or seemingly minor life change, but it is significant either way. This change is more than likely positive, but it is definitely necessary. The Chariot can also represent a change that needs to happen within. When this card pops up in a reading, you must ask yourself, “Am I the one driving the chariot?” If the answer is “no,” it is time to put yourself back in the driver’s seat.

It may be serendipitous that I pulled this card at this time because we are at the threshold of a new year, which means a whole new adventure. The Chariot wants us to discard any negative influence that is not serving us and embrace this next step in our lives.

What This Card Means for Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Chariot card speaks to your adventurous spirit and represents your need for a challenge.

Aries, you may have recently been presented with an opportunity that intimidates you. You may begin to doubt your own abilities but you must not let imposter syndrome stand in your way. You would not have this opportunity if the powers-that-be thought you couldn’t handle it.

Leo, you have accomplished so much this year. You have made the necessary changes to take the reins of your own life. Keep moving forward. I won’t tell you not to look back, because we all look back sometimes. But even when your head is turned, your feet must face forward.

Sagittarius, this card wants you to look inward. Ask yourself if you are actually healing from some past emotional scars, or if you are just trying to pretend that the scars are not there. If you have been more tense than usual, take some time to find out the root of the restlessness.

What This Card Means for Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Chariot card speaks to your ambition and represents your need to take control of your own life.

Taurus, you have helped and guided other people’s chariots a lot this year, and handed back the reins when you knew it was necessary. Now it is time to steer (yes, that was a bull pun) your own chariot. You’ve been on cruise control for a while.

Virgo, you, on the other hand, are having a difficult time letting other people drive their own chariots. Your eagerness to guide and direct others comes from a good place, but you are trying so hard to control the changes that are happening around you. It is best to just let change happen.

Capricorn, you may have recently taken on a leadership role in some capacity. Because of this newfound responsibility, you are being confronted with bad habits and negative relationships that are better left in the past.

What This Card Means for Air Signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Chariot card speaks to your restlessness and represents your need for a change of scenery.

Gemini, you have been anticipating a major change in your life. You are feeling a lot of things, but you are mostly excited. This card wants you to unclutter your mind. Try jotting down your emotions to clear your head.

Libra, a big change means a big decision. And this decision will not be easy. You often feel like you have to keep the peace to maintain the status quo. But you are going to have to fight against that peace-keeper instinct in order to reach your fullest potential.

Aquarius, you’ve been needing some sort of change for a while now. You may feel stuck in a rut with work, a relationship, or a living situation. You are not sure if this unease is a response to your surroundings or a problem from within. An opinion from an objective third party, like a mental health professional, may be able to provide clarity.

What This Card Means for Water Signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Chariot card speaks to your tendency to people-please and represents your need to take care of yourself.

Cancer, your sign is especially connected to The Chariot card. This card represents change and you are ruled by the ever-changing moon. This card wants you to embrace this upcoming transition with confidence and complete trust in the universe as well as yourself.

Scorpio, you may have been offered the opportunity of a lifetime. It would be a great fit for you but you are hesitant to accept. Whichever decision you make, be sure to approach your options with an open mind.

Pisces, your empathy is admirable. You care a lot about your community. Heck, you may even care a lot about people who you don’t really know all that well. But it is time to turn that empathy inward. Putting yourself first will grant you some control of your life

If this card was a Fleetwood Mac song it would definitely be “Go Your Own Way.” Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull! And have a happy holiday season!
