Tarot Tuesday: The Chariot… Again

Shutterstock
The Chariot card is making a reappearance today. Let's see what new messages it has for us this week.

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign.

This week I pulled The Chariot…again. I wonder if my grandmother’s deck is trying to make a subtle joke about gas prices. I mean, a chariot is kind of like a car. And if the prices keep going up, we may have to go back to driving chariots. Well, anyway, just because a repeat card was pulled, that does not necessarily mean the interpretations for the signs will be the same.

This is the card of change. This card belongs to the Major Arcana and it is believed that Major cards hold deeper and more specific meaning.  In my grandmother’s deck, The Chariot is represented as a masculine figure driving a chariot pulled by two animals or beasts, with a city view in the background as if it is being left behind. However, the card may look different based on which deck you use.

Though the card’s image may vary from deck to deck, the meaning is often the same. The Chariot represents a notable life change. This may be a major or seemingly minor life change, but it is significant either way. This change is more than likely positive, but it is definitely necessary. The Chariot can also represent a change that needs to happen within. When this card pops up in a reading, you must ask yourself “Am I the one driving the chariot?” If the answer is “no,” it is time to put yourself back in the driver’s seat.

The last time I pulled this card, it was at the tail end of last year. Let’s see what it has in store now that we are smack dab in the middle of a new year.

What This Card Means For Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Chariot card speaks to their need for forward motion.

Aries, you have been stuck in a rut. And a rut is never a fun place to be stuck in, especially for the hyper and impulsive cardinal sign. It is time to break the toxic cycle that you are trapped in. Don’t be afraid.

Leo, this card is proud of you. You are learning to say “no” and you are removing yourself from toxic situations. Don’t look back or regret the decisions you made. Trust your instincts.

Sagittarius, as a mutable sign, this card should not scare you. You are not only ready for a change, you are diving head first into it. Hold on tight to those reins. The journey may be bumpy but the destination will make it all worthwhile.

What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Chariot card speaks to their fortitude and ambition.

Taurus, you are strong and you keep taking whatever life throws at you. But it is time to step out of the trajectory of what is being thrown at you. If you have the option to leave a stressful situation, you should take it even if it scares you.

Virgo, you have recently been through a major life change. Though you have been thrown off of your course, you are slowly regaining control of your life. Things may never be the same but you have tools to handle life as it comes.

Capricorn, I said earlier in this article that if you are not the one driving your chariot, then you need to get back into the driver’s seat. Well, you’re the exception. You may need to let someone else take the reins for a bit just for your sake of well-being. You will regain your control eventually, but for now, you need rest.

What This Card Means For Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Chariot card speaks to their need to go their own way.

Gemini, as a mutable sign, you are happy to fly wherever the wind may take you. You are not afraid of change. To you, “change” is just another word for “opportunity.” You got this!

Libra, you may feel like you are driving your chariot as well as other people’s chariots. You may be trying to control everyone and everything around you because you are terrified of watching your loved ones get hurt. It is your job to let them drive their own chariots now. Concern yourself with the path in front of you.

Aquarius, always remember that you know yourself better than anyone else does. Someone may try to direct your course, but you know what you are doing. Trust your own instincts and follow your own path.

What This Card Means For Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. This Chariot card speaks to their adaptability.

Cancer, your sign is particularly connected to this card, so it may hold more significance for you. You are ruled by the moon, and some people may say that that fact alone makes you moody. But in reality, it just means that you are able to change with the tides. This card is proud of you for embracing change.

Scorpio, like Aries, you may feel stuck in a rut. But you are able to make this “rut” work for you. Be patient and wait out the storm. If you are patient, positive change may be on the horizon.

Pisces, sometimes your anxiety interferes with your “go-with-the-flow” nature. It is okay and understandable to be a little apprehensive in the face of a big life change. But don’t try to fight it. Change can be good.

Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull!
