Read on to find out what The Judgment card has in store for you!

Welcome to Tarot Tuesday!

Happy New Year!

Each Tuesday I will be pulling a card from my grandmother’s tarot deck and writing about what the card could mean for the signs, broken up by element. The elements of the zodiac are Fire (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius), and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces).

I may pull a card from the major arcana, representing our inner wisdom. Or I may pull a suit card, representing outside influences. I may even pull a court card signifying a specific person in your life. This card can help you set your intention for the rest of the week or it can provide a visualization of your current situation. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising signs as well as your sun sign. You can check your birth chart placements here.

Also, I want to mention that this week’s card was not the first card I pulled. I pulled the Page of Pentacles first before pulling this week’s card. I already pulled this card before, but if you want to check out that card, you can do so here.

Judgment

This week I pulled Judgment, the card of resolution and renewal. It’s kind of the perfect card for the New Year. It is also the card of self-transformation. This card belongs to the Major Arcana and it is believed that Major cards hold deeper and more specific meanings. In my grandmother’s deck, this card is often depicted as a giant golden-haired angel descending from the heavens playing a gold horn. The horn is adorned with a white flag with a red cross. Below the angel, there are several people rising up from their coffins that drift along the sea.

When this card turns up in a reading, it can mean that external forces are causing you to question yourself. It directs the querent not to take what they have heard at face value.

This card illustrates one’s ability to trust their own gut and follow their own path. When this card pops up, it may be telling you that it is time to figuratively banish the old parts of your life that are a source of pain or deception, so that the new parts can thrive. This card wants you to trust your instincts and not need any unfair criticism.

Also, I’m sure you are wondering why the card is spelled with two e’s. Pamela Colman Smith, the illustrator of the cards, was British, so she uses the British spelling for certain words.

What This Card Means For Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Fire signs are ruled by their passion and drive. The Judgment card speaks to your need to keep those who you trust close to you.

Aries, this card wants you to be careful who you share your feelings and big ideas with. Not everyone can be trusted and not everyone deserves to be in your inner circle.

Leo, like with Aries, this card wants you to be careful who you trust. People who you want to help may take advantage of your time and your generous spirit.

Sagittarius, this card wants you to set boundaries with your employer and/or significant other if they are asking too much of you. Don’t try to be a people-pleaser.

What This Card Means For Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Earth signs are ruled by their dedication and desire. The Judgment card speaks to your need to trust in your own capabilities.

Taurus, this card wants you to trust your own instincts when it comes to financial matters. It is okay to take someone’s advice, but make sure it is a person whose opinion you value.

Virgo, you may have been trying to go above and beyond for your job. This is admirable, but this card wants you to be wary of employers who play favorites.

Capricorns, this card wants you to take a good, long look at your life and career choices and ask yourself if you are happy in your current job. Don’t stay in a toxic work environment.

What This Card Means For Air Signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)

Air signs are ruled by their compassion and independence. The Judgment card speaks to your need to open your mind to new possibilities.

Aquarius, this card wants you to express yourself in any creative way that makes you happy. Don’t listen to any unfair or unwarranted criticism. It’s time to live your best life.

Gemini, in the new year your mind is flourishing with new ideas. This card wants you to nurture these ideas and bring them to fruition.

Libra, if you have been thinking about traveling or moving to a new home or city, this card wants you to give those ideas greater consideration.

What This Card Means For Water Signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio)

Water signs are ruled by their empathy and imagination. The Judgment card speaks to your need to show yourself the compassion that you show everyone else.

Pisces, you are one of the most empathic signs in the zodiac. But this card says that you need a little empathy too. It’s time to surround yourself with supportive people whom you trust.

Cancer, you show everyone around you compassion. This is admirable. But this card wants you to take care of yourself. It also wants you to push away people who use your tender heart to control you.

Scorpio, your sign is particularly connected to this card, so it may hold more significance for you. This card wants you to cut out all of the negative people in your life so that you can live the life you have always wanted. Leave the toxic people in 2022.

Tune in next week for another Tuesday Tarot Pull! In honor of the Judgment card, let’s listen to this hit by Niall Horan.
