On the last day of Capricorn season, let's discover some books that the Sea-Goat will love!

Today is the last day of Capricorn season. So why don’t we send them off with a collection of compelling books?

I have created a list of books that will speak to the cardinal sign’s business sense, charm, and protective nature. The majority of books on this list are written by Capricorns and many of them are autobiographies, so the earth signs will be sure to find them relatable.

People who have their sun, moon, and rising signs in Capricorn will love these stories. You can check your birth chart here!

Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics

YouTube

Written by Dolly Parton with Robert K. Germann and published by Chronicle Books (November 17, 2020)

Since it’s Dolly’s birthday, we have to start the list off with a book written by the incomparable Queen of Country. In this collection of memories, the country star shares the stories behind some of her favorite songs that she has written. The cardinal earth signs will enjoy going down memory lane with their fellow Capricorn.

Here We Go Again: My Life in Television

YouTube

Written by Betty White and published by Scribner (October 12, 2010)

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Betty White went to that big cheesecake in the sky. But that doesn’t mean that her fellow Capricorns need to live without her wise and witty words. Readers will enjoy the poignant words and irreverent humor as she tells stories of what it was like being one of the hardest-working actresses in Hollywood.

Damned

YouTube

Written by Chuck Palahniuk and published by Jonathan Cape (September 1, 2011)

The personal tarot card for Capricorn is The Devil, but that is not the only reason I paired them with the devilish coming-of-age tale. This book is an odd blend of Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, The Breakfast Club, and The Shawshank Redemption. At first glance, it may seem a bit too bizarre for the straight-laced Capricorn. The earth sign will soon find themselves taken with the stirring and intelligent main character, Madison, as well as the surly dialogue.

Doomed

YouTube

Written by Chuck Palahniuk and published by Doubleday (October 8, 2013)

Capricorns do not like things to go unfinished, so I can’t put Damned on the list without including its sequel Doomed. This novel follows the continuation of Madison’s journey after escaping Hell and thrusting herself into Purgatory. The cardinal signs will be on the edge of their seat as they pull for the strong-willed main character to emerge victorious in her fight against the forces of evil.

Shine Your Icy Crown

YouTube

Written by Amanda Lovelace and published by Andrews McMeel Publishing (January 26, 2021)

Capricorn, you deserve to kick back and indulge in a little poetry just as much as the next zodiac sign. Shine Your Icy Crown is a book of poems from the You Are Your Own Fairytale collection. These poems will inspire and remind you how far you have come. If you feel revitalized and empowered after reading this book, check out the other books in the series Break Your Glass Slippers and Unlock Your Storybook Heart.

Becoming

YouTube

Written by Michelle Obama and published by Crown; 1st Edition (November 13, 2018)

Did you know that the former First Lady of the United States of America was a Capricorn? Since her husband, President Barack Obama is a Leo, I can only assume that they are the ultimate power couple. The cardinal sign will be fascinated to learn about the iconic First Lady’s life story and experiences.

You can also check out the Netflix documentary based on the book.

Their Eyes Were Watching God

YouTube

Written by Zora Neale Hurston and published by J.B. Lippincott (September 18, 1937)

Zora Neal Hurston was a strong Capricorn, so it only makes sense that she would endow the book’s main character Janie with some of the cardinal earth sign’s traits. Capricorns will enjoy reading about Janie’s fortitude as well as her quest for love and independence.

The Catcher in the Rye

YouTube

Written by J.D. Salinger and published by Little, Brown and Company (July 16, 1951)

I told you there were going to be a lot of Capricorn authors on this list! There is a good chance you read this book back in high school. But even if you did, I encourage you to give this coming-of-age tale another chance. Capricorns are known to be protective of the ones that they love so they will relate to Holden Caulfield’s desire to save children from falling off a metaphorical cliff.

If You Ask Me: (And of Course You Won’t)

YouTube

Written by Betty White and published by Berkley; Reprint edition (February 7, 2012)

There was no way I was only going to put one book by Betty White on this list. Capricorns are known to be quite blunt, so they will enjoy Betty White’s candid observations about Hollywood, celebrity culture, and her own personal life and philosophy.

Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business

YouTube

Written by Dolly Parton and published by HarperCollins; 1st edition (January 1, 1994)

We started the list off with a book written by Dolly Parton and we are finishing the list with a book written by Dolly Parton! Business-minded Capricorns will appreciate this charming rags-to-riches story. Plus they will absolutely adore her business acumen and no-nonsense attitude.
